Our
Political
Fight

It was largely a kick in the head for those of us who retired from a union to find out that our unions were behind diminishing our healthcare, privatizing Medicare and passing costs on us to create a cash flow to finance deals they made that we do not benefit from.  A betrayal of the kind retirees never saw before.

When we began winning in court and fought back, they called us names, lied about what they did, told politicians they represented us when they do not. They claimed Medicare Advantage was better than traditional Medicare - and all doctors take it.  Another major lie.   Then they decided to use us for a cash flow by assessing copays on us for the first time in 60 years - once again to fund their deals. They didn't care it put us in medical debt.

Then, when we introduced legislation to protect us, they lobbied against us in both the City and State.  And in 2026, they are doing it for the third time.

We are now making an active campaign to fight back.

There is not much we agree with Randi Weingarten on, but in this audio she tells an active teacher he has the right to stop or reduce his political payments to the union if he didn't like what the union was doing.

We agree Randi.

Stop your COPE to the UFT today.  and donate it to NYC Retirees COPE fund to educate elected on our legislation.  On the link below, you will see instructions on how to end UFT COPE or DC37 Peoples.  If you are making payments to another union political action, call them and ask their procedure.

We cannot fight to protect you, when you are funding the opposition to fight our efforts to protect you!

                            Donate here.

The video below we show you evidence of the UFT and AFLCIO lobbying against retirees legislation.
